Inspired by the Waffle Flower Photo Inspiration challenge I made a card for a friend’s new baby. The inspiration for the card came from the soft pallet of blue, pink, yellow and green. This card was made using the ink blending technique on Neenah card stock. To start I masked the edges of my A2 panel with masking tape to create a rectangle.
Next, I stamped the bunny and moon from Waffle Flower’s ‘Riverside Stamp Set’ in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then again on masking paper. I cut the images from the masking paper and laid them over the original stamped images. I cut one last mask for my ‘hill’ that the bunny is sitting on. Taking my ink blending tool I used three different My Favorite Things dye inks to create my sky. Once happy with the results I masked off the sky and used the same technique to create the grass.
TIPS: If you’re new to ink blending here are some things I’ve learned: after putting ink on your applicator tap it a few times off the page before bring the applicator onto your project. To get the most even coverage I recommend using circular motions and starting from a point off your project and as you continue to make circular motions bring the applicator onto your card panel. Keep in mind that complimentary colors (colors opposite each other on the color wheel) make black when mixed i.e. avoid creating mud accidentally! Not sure? Try it out on a scrap piece of paper first! 🙂 Lastly, sometimes it is good to let the ink dry so you can determine if more blending is needed. Depending on the ink you’re using, some of them tend to ‘even’ out upon drying.
Once the ink was dry I removed my masks and colored in the bunny and moon with copic markers. I prepped the card panel with an anti-static tool and stamped the stars in Versamark ink before embossing it with white embossing powder. For my greeting I die cut ‘congrats’ twice, using an Ellen Hutson die cut, and glued the two sentiments together. I attached my sentiment to the card and then covered it and the moon in glossy accents. Baby card complete!
Thanks for stopping by!
